We have an exciting opportunity to join Sovereign Network Group (SNG) as an Internal Communications Business Partner - a strategic role at the heart of connecting our people with our purpose, our priorities, and our culture.

This is much more than a content role. You will act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to senior leaders, shaping thinking, challenging constructively, and ensuring communications genuinely support engagement, clarity, and delivery across a complex, fast-moving organisation.

Based from our offices in Basingstoke or Wembley, you'll combine office and home working in line with our hybrid approach. Some travel to other offices or off-site locations will be required, so access to transport is essential.

SNG is one of the largest housing associations in England. We provide over 85,000 homes and invest in communities across London, the South East, South West and East of England, as well as aiming to create thousands of new affordable homes every year.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Internal Communications, Brand and Creative, you'll partner with senior leaders and directorates to shape, plan, and deliver internal communications that bring our strategy to life and help colleagues feel connected, informed, and inspired.

You'll combine strategic planning, strong stakeholder management, and hands-on delivery to ensure communications land with impact and influence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a strategic business partner to leaders across SNG – building trusted relationships, understanding their priorities, and advising on the best communication approach
  • Influencing and constructively challenging stakeholders to ensure communications are clear, aligned, realistic, and support both cultural and organisational goals
  • Developing and implementing communication plans that support major programmes, organisational priorities, and moments of change
  • Leading and delivering company-wide communication campaigns with clear, consistent, and compelling messaging
  • Working closely with People leadership teams, and other areas of the business to support culture building, change management and major organisational initiatives
  • Managing and optimising internal communication channels – including intranet, newsletters, email updates, Viva Engage, and digital signage – ensuring they reflect our tone of voice, values and brand
  • Using insights, engagement metrics, and colleague feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of communications and inform ongoing improvements
  • Partnering with the Communications and People teams to support the design and delivery of employee events, including roadshows, conferences, and in-person and digital briefings

What We're Looking For

You will have demonstrable experience in an internal communications or corporate communications role at business partner level, ideally in a large or complex organisation. You'll bring the confidence, presence, and political awareness required to work closely with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making.

You will also have:

  • A proven ability to influence, negotiate, and advise senior leaders, even when views differ
  • Experience developing and delivering internal communication strategies that drive clarity and engagement
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clear messaging for varied audiences
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a natural ability to navigate organisational dynamics
  • Experience managing internal communication platforms, such as SharePoint, Viva Engage, and Poppulo (desirable)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and adjust strategies based on insight
  • A proactive, creative mindset, with the resilience to operate in a fast-paced and evolving environment

Your Benefits

We offer a range of great benefits, including:

  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays (with an extra day every year, up to 30 days)
  • Option to buy or sell holiday as part of our flexible benefits package
  • 3 Wellbeing Days and 2 paid volunteering days
  • Generous matched pension scheme (up to 12%) and life cover at 4x salary
  • Options for private medical, dental insurance and critical illness cover
  • Wellbeing discounts including gym memberships and access to a 24/7 virtual GP service

At SNG, we are passionate about being an inclusive organisation where everyone can thrive. We are committed to our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and want you to feel that you can truly be yourself here.

Ready to Make an Impact?

If you're a confident communicator and strategic partner, ready to influence leaders and help shape the future of internal communications at SNG, we would love to hear from you!
